Is it possible to use two 10/100 LAN cards to speed up my connection?

I have an extra port, cord, and LAN card in my dorm room, is it possible to use two ethernet cards in the same computer to double my speed? I'm using windows 2000.

hehe....

well if you knew the basic specifications of your network (switched/shared, etc) and had a REASON to need more than 100mbps AND you can show that the 100mbps running into your dorm room is the bottleneck (unlikely) then MAYBE you could CONSIDER wanting to speed up your connection. At that point, the answer is likely "no" unless you have some pretty specific applications in mind which can be hard-routed through a separate interface. And that ONLY works if your network is fully switched and you have two ports up to the switch AND the bottleneck is in your 100mbps connection (like I said, unlikely).

I have a feeling you just want to get MP3s faster in which case the above answers are pretty apt :)

Well I knew that you could link certain modems together, didnt know if you could with ethernet cards. I dont get anywhere near 100 mbs, and I wouldnt mind downloading simpson episodes and mp3s a little faster, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks for the info.

It is probably a 10/100 network within your school, but that does not mean the actual internet connection is that fast.
