Question Is it possible to use SteamVR or Oculus Home to output to a VR HMD that doesn't have controllers or Base stations yet?

I received the Pimax 8k HMD but I don't have any Vive hardware to actually use it and the Pimax controllers and Vive station 2.0 might take quite a while until they release it. I just want to test it out to make sure the HMD itself functions. Since it's compatible with Steam VR and Oculus Home, Is there a way to run a VR video or game and have it display through the HMD without the tracking stations and controllers?

If you don't have any kind of trackers then no. If the trackers can't find the headset, the headset will go dark.

Controllers you can use an Xbox One controlller, but some games require actual VR controllers.
