I've recently purchased slim version of dell inspiron desktop.
I didn't upgrade my video card since I don't play games but I noticed that my x3100 (integrated videocard) has only one vga slot.

Is it possible to connect two monitors with only one vga slot?

I have Dell 22inch(vga, dvi, hdmi), 19inch(vga),

Do I need a card with dual head or is there a splitter that distributes signals to two outputs?

A splitter would just split the signal, meaning the same resolution, picture, etc. which isn't what you want.

You might want to look into a USB to VGA adaptor if getting a dual display video card for that Dell is difficult.

They work fine if you're just running basic stuff on it.

I owned this one for a little while; worked fine for basic stuff, though it disabled Vista Aero unfortunately.

My boss bought a few thin case dell's a couple months ago. You CAN get a half height video card to place in a pci slot. Don't know if you can use the onboard in tandem or not (I haven't tried).

yes you can. I have done it before. Of course, you need drivers for both cards installed.

it really depends on the model of the computer. i have a few that wont let you enable the onboard video if you have a card plugged in.
