Is it possible to configure your PC to use a proxy for all its internet traffic, the way you can configure a browser to use a proxy?

Sure you can set your home page to your favorite proxy site but thats about it. Keep in mind your browsing will be slower threw a proxy.

No, I don't mean for the browser, I mean for the whole PC. For all applications that connect to the internet e.g. email clients, software, games, etc.

Nope. Those go dirrectly to whatever ISP you have. In order to pull it off you would have to be able to have the desired application connect to the internet threw the ISP then surf to the proxy server before going out to whatever destination it requires.

Once your traffic hits the Default Gateway for your Internet connection, you really can't control where it goes next. That Default Gateway is set by your ISP.

You COULD set up a VPN connection to a Proxy Server and force all your Internet traffic across the VPN tunnel to that Proxy as the endpoint. But that's not an option that a "public" Proxy Server would normally provide.

Thanks. Where could I find out more about this VPN option? Is that easy to do?

I have my own remote server where I can install proxy software so that shouldn't be an issue.
