We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. It uses the mobile P4 and IBM's maintenance manual lists speeds up to 2.0GHz for it. I have seen some units that require new parts for the 2.2GHz and higher CPU's and other that don't. 2.0GHz is a sure bet, but 2.2 or higher is unknown.
I seriously doubt that you'd would gain much speed improvement. Probably end up with shorter battery life. The bottleneck on laptops are hard drives. Get a 5400rpm HD with a large buffer and max out your ram.
