Just wondering. I have an old pentium II 350 laying around and was thinking of getting a nice motherboard to get me another computer up and running. Is there anything I can do to unlock the multiplier on this???
many people have a great deal of success overclocking those P2300 and p2350s up to around 450 - 500 (if youre lucky) I would try to get a cheap abit of asus board and oc that chip with some good Pc133 ram. COmbined with a nice video card like a geforce 2 MX, you would have a pretty fast machine. Not quite like a P3 or overclocked duron, but a decent find nontheless...
The thing that you must decide on is whether the investment in another slot 1 motherboard is worth it. Seeing as people are getting Durons oc'd to 800 - 1Ghz for a simple 50 dollar investment, I believe that makes buying into a socket a motherboard well worth it. The CPUs from AMD are absolutely amazing.
Maybe you could find someone to buy that old chip for around 30 to 40 dollars. Then that would make it well worth your while to invest in another system!!
oh, and I doubt that you can unlock the multiplier. Most of the P2350s had been locked by the time intel started producing those chips... now, if it was a super early Chip, it might be unlocked.
If it was only a P2300 or P2 266, it might be a different story...
