is it possible to unlock dell's bios and OC

I wanted to OC a dell xps 420 with Q6600 , only to find the bios was locked !
Is there anyway I can bypass that ? Thanks

im pretty sure you cant do it with a dell mobo. nor is there a way to 'unlock' them since they are manufactured that way and don't really have anything useful to 'unlock'

thanks for the reply, do you have any idea what's the mfr for dell mb, can I flash dell's bios with the mfr's ?

Dude I tried that years ago and fried the BIOS chip, dont do it. What you wanna do is order a replacement BIOS chip from the motherboard manufacturer and replace it.

its probably some OEM distributor. for all i know it could be foxconn. i doubt you will find any type of bios that gives you the ability to overclock. and if you did it would probably fry something

I did I quick search and didnt find you mobo.. sorry... but the reason for my reply is to also warn you that once you change the BIOS chip your Windows installation will become immediately invalid and you will need to reinstall Windows with something other than the Windows that Dell provided.
