Is it possible to underclock memory and run at a higher CAS?

I was just thinking, I have 768MB of pseudo-PC 133 SDRAM in my PC but the new stick of 512 PC133 doesn't run at 133. I had to underclocked it to 120 to get it running and was wondering at what point would an underclocked CAS2 would be faster than CAS3 at a higher speed or if it is even possible to do it.

Thanks

If you can deal with the headache of it, I would say you should contact your vendor for a replacement DIMM cuz you bought 133 RAM and it will only do 120. Then, you can get some RAM that really will do 133, and run it at CAS2.

Just my $.02, for what it's worth.

Here is what it is, PC100 that is certified for CAS2 usually can run at PC133 at CAS3 so u have to decide. Most of the time, the PC133 CL3 will run better than the PC100 CL2.

I've got 256MB of Corsair PC133 that will run at PC133 CAS3 but I just got a stick of 512MB that only runs at 120Mhz. But from what people tell me since my FSB is at 120mhz, my PCI slots are running at 80Mhz rather than 66mhz so it's not that much of a slowdown.
