Is it possible to turn an internal cd-rw into an external one?

I've got a tdk velocd, with another cd-rw on the way thanks to officemax:) , so I'd like to see if I can convert one of them for use with my laptop. I'm pretty sure I'd be sacrificing speed, but that's okay.
Anyways, I'm just wondering if there's some sort of enclosure that I could use to do, or what?
Any help is appreciated. As much as I like computers, I'm still more of a user than a doer...
Thanks!

definitely you can do it,
don't know the least expensive place, but I think dirtcheapdrives.com sells some enclosures.
I also remember seeing a firewire enclosure reviewed in Maximumpc about a year ago.
I've been switching my 2x2x4 hp cdrw in and out of it's enclosure for the last year.

edit: just went and checked dirtcheapdrives.com and they have a bunch of enclosures, even usb 2.0. Some are expensive though, you may want to shop around.

The easiest to convert would be a SCSI burner. IDE burners would probably end up connecting to the parallel port, or if the external enclosure has something like an IDE to USB or Firewire adapter circuitry.
