I have an old laptop that I need to copy files to and I can't find the network dongle, fortunately it does have a USB port but I don't know how to transfer anything through it. Anyone out there know how to do something like this?

you can literally plug a USB cable into each PC?

Or do this...it'll be much easier.

you can get a thing that you can plug into the floppy drive on both pc's 🙂
Um a floppy disk? 😕 😛

no, a floppy data transfer cable.

you drag things to the floppy and they appear in a folder on pc #2

Nope Sneakernet

What's the transfer rate for parallel and serial transfers?

I've done this... You needed a Laplink cable. I think that a parallel cconnection could achieve 300 kbps/sec.

No, it is NOT that simple. Doing that will likely fry your motherboard.

They make cables specifically for this, regular USB cables will NOT work.

300 kilobits per second per second. 😛

oops, yeah...basically it's a crossover USB cable. Got to get one of those since they carry power over USB!
