is it possible to tell the diff btw diamond and cubic zirconium?

Yes, you can tell the difference between a diamond and CZ. BUT, look into Moissanite (I may have spelled that wrong). It's VERY difficult to see a difference between it and a diamond. Very nice looking at a very nice price.

If your trying to trick a girl by giving her a nice fat CZ then the first thing she will do is get it appraised and you'll be busted. Buy from a jeweler or buy the diamond from a local wholesaler and get it mounted. I know several people who have been burned on ebay and online.

no, just thinking how rediculous it is to drop that much cash on a chunk of carbon. if i ever had a girl who got it appraised i would dump her first.

Yes. It's possible and very, very easy if you get close.

Only if you know what to look for.

And women ALWAYS know what to look for, or know someone who knows - and it WILL be inspected by that person.

From the Apollo website:
gem quality diamond crystals

Apollo Diamond grows 100% diamond crystals that match or exceed the purity and beauty of the finest naturally mined diamond gemstones in the world.

Apollo created diamonds are low nitrogen type IIa crystals that are grown as water white crystals. They also can be grown in light pink, blue or jet black colors.

Apollo Cultured Diamonds

All of our diamonds are grown in a cultured environment. Just as Mikimoto and Akoye introduced cultured pearls and have changed the gem world by harnessing the natural growth process of the pearl, Apollo has harnessed the natural growth process to bring you a cultured yet 100% pure diamond.

Apollo created diamonds are inherently upper grade stones, with low inclusion, and a high brilliance. Apollo created diamonds can be used in jewelry products requiring the highest quality gemstones. Apollo grown Diamonds are produced in matched color sets and range in size from 5 points to 1 carat, fully faceted diamonds.

same, but unfortunatley, my gf is that shallow 🙁

It's very easy to tell the difference between CZ and diamonds. CZ is way too flawless, sparkly and pure. It's clear that it was man made...

you need to get it appraised for insurance purposes, in case it's stolen.

..almost every girl is that shallow, whether you think so or not

besides the first thing anybody should do with a new expensive item is get it appraised and then added to insurance policy. The good thing with jewelery is that most of the time the appraisal value is higher than you paid so it looks like you spent more.

You wouldn't ever get a girl, so that point is moot.

If the CZ is cut correctly, it will be very hard to tell. There are some great places to buy "high end" CZ that look exactly like diamonds!
The thing that most people can tell is when they do not sparkle and therefor, really do look like just a piece of glass.

So women want something flawed and discolored. I just don't get it, but that's why I don't have a g/f.

I think that a big factor is the setting. If it's one of those $20 CZ rings, it's in a crappy setting and it's easy to tell it's fake. If you got a decent CZ put into the same ring you would put a diamond in, the average person probably wouldn't notice the difference.
