Is it possible to split an ISO that's 7+GB onto two 4.7GB DVD-R's?

I've got a huge ISO that I need to burn, and DL disks are still so expensive (anyone got some hot deals?). Is there any way I can split it onto two DVD-R's?

Well it depends on what it is. If it's just a bunch of files, then you could mount the iso with daemon tools or alcohol 120 or extract it with winrar. If it is dvd-video then you'll have to use a few tools to either split or shrink the video, check doom9.org. If it is a game or some program that is very large then no, you're stuck, buy a DL burner for $40 or better yet pay for whatever it is that you could possibly have only as a huge ISO file.

you could archive the ISO into two segments with a file archiver like 7-zip, but you'd have to extract the segments on a hard drive and then mount with daemon it to make use of it.

if its video, obese is right on with doom9

for games, not necessarily. if its a install shield game, usually you can just put %game%.msi, setup.exe, data1.cab, data2.cab etc on seperate discs, sometimes extra files depending on the game (example: C&C generals for example needs the \support\ directory off the disc too), then put then all in the same directory on a hard drive and install from there.

There was a Sunday paper ad for a 10-pack of dual-layer Maxell DVD's for $19.99, or about $2 each. This may have been Office Max (not sure).

Get winrar from www.rarlabs.com download winrar then select the iso file(make sure the iso file is like in my documents or an empty folder right click it with winrar installed and hit add to archive and in the bottom left corner :slitp volume types and split it small enough for it to fit on 1 DVD or cd and then it will make multiple files then go to the other computer install winrar and then drag the split file in to a new folder that you will create then take the disc out and put the other disc in and drag the file into the same folder then click on the first file and wala all there!
