Is it possible to shutdown a PC?

Is possible to shutdown another PC Networked through a router? Like be at my PC and shutdown another PC in a room? I am sure its possible but is there a easy way?

install vnc server onto remote machine, connect to that machine through vnc client

yeah but if you type in "shutdown" at the command line you will find out low and behold there is a -m \\computername option that shuts down remote computers

oh IC now thx all

Looks like I am gonna have to run network setup on each as non of them are asigned a name. I mean they are on the same connection but they can't see each other to share folders and files. Is it possible without having to do this by just using the IP the router asigns to them or something?

To shut down a remote computer you must have admin privildegs on that computer. Easiest thing to do in WinXP is to have an admin account on the remote comp. with the same username and password as the local computer.

Look at the command line params for shutdown and there may be a way to specify a username and password as well...

better then the windows shutdown, psshutdown (from the pstools toolkit) is better. You will have to know an admin account on that machine, and it must have the rpc stuff (C$ hidden share). It' won't work with home (not sure if the windows one will) so that's out.
