so, I've been having issues with my router lately... while troubleshooting, I have my desktop hooked directly up to my cable modem instead of going through the router.

everything's all well and good as far as my desktop goes, but the setup leaves my laptops high and dry. I have an unused wireless card in my desktop, would it be possible to use it to get my desktop setup as a wireless router for my two laptops? it's not the ideal setup, but it would be a temporary band-aid till I get all my router issues worked out.

I do not know what special about your circumstances.

Millions of people and business use sub $100 Wireless Routers for elaborate settings.

ICS works but it very basic and usually more troublesome than stand alone Router.

Get this For $30 flash it with DD-WRT and be done with (Using a special computer for this purpose is more expensive).

getting a new router is the ideal and likely long-term solution, but it doesn't help me today unless I wanted to go to bestbuy and get buttraped :p

So go wearing pants and walk upright rather than naked and on all fours.
