Is it possible to send picture messages over different networks?

Hello, me and my friend are planning our Black Friday deal hunts and I want to be able to get pics (I dont have a camera phone) of the stuff. However, I can't receive anything from him during our tests. Can you send pictures from tmobile to cingular? ANyone have any ideas why it doesnt work?
