i was running a 600b and it just shut down. upon restart, i get ,"CPU has changed or is unworkable-See Soft Menu" now it detects as a 300Mhz chip. can i just flash my bios to fix this?

The 600B runs on a 133mhz fsb; when your computer screwed up, I think the fsb may have automatically just set back to a 66mhz fsb, which would make the 600mhz processor (4.5x133) read as a 300mhz processor (4.5x66).

Go into the bios and set your fsb up to 133mhz. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

If it works fine but doesn't keep your settings after you shut it down, then it's almost certainly the battery.
