IS IT POSSIBLE TO RUN PC2700 DDR AT 3200 SPEEDS?

I have an asus A7N8X nforce 2. I got a 512 stick of pc2700. I am wondering, will i be able to run my fsb at 400 with pc2700, what will happen if i try? Do i have to shell out for some 3200? Thanks

;) As zShowtimez basicly covered, if it's a good brand (as listed) then you should get close or even achieve PC3200 perf esp with slow RAM timings and possibly a light voltage increase.

What do you guys use or suggest for testing that the RAM is 100% sound? I've used things like Memtest and PCcheck but they can often pass all tests and yet Windows won't make it to the desktop, perhaps Windows handles the RAM very differently BUT of course you can't really test all the RAM from within Windows .... so any recs?

I just use my computer. The way I see it is if I can do whatever I want with my computer and it doesn't crash or act weird, then all is good. :)

I'll also do it while prime95 is running if I want to test a CPU overclock.

Then again, I could be wrong. :p
