Is it possible to remove SP2 from a CD slipstreamed with SP2?

Hi all, I recently built a new computer and installed WinXP Pro with SP2 slipstreamed because originally my 160 GB hard drive was only recognized as ~130GB before the slipstreaming of SP2. Since then, I've had huge problems with internet connections where doing more than a few things over the internet causes the internet to stop working over and over until reboot. Apps that use many connections speed up the losing of internet, and after lots of frustration, i think i've figured out that it is SP2's limitations on connections (10) that is causing the problem. I tried to use the patcher available online but it doesn't seem to have helped (i wasnt able to follow the directions to letter as some of the directories it directed me to did not exist). It may be that the problem isn't SP2, but I'm at my wit's end and really want to get rid of this. That said, I still want my HD to be recognized, so I'm trying to create a slipstreamed copy of WinXP with SP1A, which I believe also solves the problem, but for a week or so, the only CD i will have access to is the one I used to isntall this computer - the one slipstreamed with SP2. I really need a working computer RIGHT NOW if at all possible, and can't really afford to wait a week.

Is there any way to use the data on that CD, removing SP2 so that I can slipstream it into SP1? Or is this impossible? Also are there ways to not have to partiition my HD into more than one big segment without SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed at install?

Thanks in advance!

The installation files are overwritten - no way to reclaim them. You could try slip streaming SP1 back in but I doubt it would allow you to proceed.

there is a registry edit that you can remove that 10 connection limitation that sp2 imposes. that should fix your problem.

good luck finding it though

Anyway, that limitation is only a restriction for *pending* TCP sessions, which should automatically re-try until all connections are established. I don't think it's your problem. It's possible that you could be having a different software issue.

After you reinstall XP with SP1, update to SP2 with System Restore enabled and report whether it affects your connection.

If you are using a wireless connection with a Centrino laptop, update your drivers. I encountered a problem like this when installing SP2 on a Centrino laptop, and it was the fault of Intel's drivers.
