Is it possible to put Zalman passive heatsink on the wrong way?

I just installed the Zalman ZM-NB47J onto my Neo Platinum board, and the NB temps stayed in the mid to high 40's as it was before I installed the Zalman. It was only after I installed another 120mm fan blowing over the hard drive bay did my NB temp drop to 40.

Right now the zalman heatsink's fins are vertical when the case its on its side. Should I turn it around so that the fins are horizontal instead? Or does it really matter.

Its a real pain in the a** to remove the heatsink cooler because I have to take the whole mobo out. So if it doesn't really matter, then I won't bother.

I like my heatsink fines vertical do the air blast doesn't disturb the little air flow there. If it's passive, it's better to be horizontal to get the best airflow.

doesnt really matter. Mine are diagonal.

Theoretically horizontal would be better, but i doubt you will find a real difference since they are fins arranged like pins rather than long fins.

ie a row on the heatsink is

- - - - vs. _______
