Is it possible to pull recording from my DVR to PC?

Basically, I have a lot of HD content recorded on my Motorola DVR box that I dont want to eras. I want to get it from my DVR to my PC so I can hang on to it without it hogging up my DVR space.

How would I got about doing this? My DVR box has SATA and USB connections.

Is it possible to set up my DVR box as a Media Center Extender?

My system:

Opteron 170
2x1GB RAM
X1900XTX
Windows Vista Home Premium

You should be able to transfer it using something like capdvhs and firestb (for drivers) assuming you box has firewire (whats the model?), but it may not let you transfer premium stuff (hbo/stars/showtime...), for premium you might be stuck with using svideo (which means no hd, but its better then nothing). This topic should be in the audio/video * home theater section.

Sorry, still not used to the new categories. 🙁

It's the Motorola Explorer 8300HD.

So I need firewire? Hmm... I'll check out the program you listed.
