is it possible to overclock E machine 400i with celeron 400 ?

i know that motherboard is not BX chipset. it has 400 at 66 mhz. i dont see any jumpers for cpu or clock settings in Bios settings. Any ideas? is it possible to upgrade to higher porcessor on same motherboard? its Pga-socket (not fc pga) so will it take celeron 2? thanx

Emachines use a fairly modular build, take a close look at the mobo and see if there are any jumper settings available.

You should be able to up the buss speed to 100mhz but no voltage adjustments are availible (that I know of) as badthad said they are modular build board (Amptron made them I think??? or Matsonic???) I know about the older ones they have a BX-cell chipset??? If memory serves me right... Also look in the manual for cpu settings (if you got one???) or possibly check their site...

Their is no way to overclock that Emachine. It uses a propritary motherboard with the Intel LX chipset. The board is fairly unstable to begin with so overclocking would only make it worse. I think it will take a Celeron 500 or maybe 533 - non-Celermine type if you have some money to waste. Good luck.

With an Emachines motherboard you would probably have to flash the bios to let is support a faster cpu if the board is one that automaticly detects the bus speed and multiplier. Ran into that problem with my gateway.

Go to Emachines website and check your model number and see if the have a build spec sheet for it. It will list the components they used when building that model number series. Might not list the info your after. Other than that, if you don't see any bus speed information silkscreened on the motherboard near a set of jumpers or multiplier info as well, your out of luck. But it should at least be able to support PPGA celeron cpu's, which peaked at 533mhz before they were discontinued when the move to FCPGA was made.
