I have a Dimension 4400 with 1.7Ghz Pentium 4, and 768MB's of PC2100 DDR. Is it possible to overclock the processor, and/or the memory? or is it impossible with the Intel Motherboards? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Not with any of the regular methods.

You might be able to get something out of it using SoftFSB so long as it recognises the clock generator on the motherboard, but that's about it.

Just a note... be careful :) It also does not work all that well, at least in my trials.
The pin trick works much better. But I think your motherboard is not 533 compatable. If it is your CPU might not be... it's hard to tell.

What's the pin trick? Also...can I damage anything irreversibly by trying out SoftFSB?

I dl'ed it, and try to run it...says:
"SoftFSBctrlE.html Overwrite [Y/N]"...ummm...is this bad?

I'll give you a link for the pin trick soon as I find it.

It has been so long since I used SoftFSB... I could not tell you what that error is... other than it sounds like a web based help file

http://server39.hypermart.net/xoverclocker/wire1.html
For increased voltages 'if' your computer will boot (or post) at the 533 bus. If it does not do either, don't even consider this trick.

Would also help if you had better cooling. Dell's bit the bullet on that department since day 1.

But a combination of the fsb mod and wire trick for more voltage worked wonders for me :).
