Just bought a dell inspiron 3800. P3-600. Has anyone ever tried this and get any results? Please let me know if you have resources on this subject.

maybe, but in case you're not aware, overclocking laptops isn't all that great of an idea. Increased heat, lowered battery life, etc..

And if it is possible, there's a very good chance it involves some SMT soldering.

wouldn't doubt it, and plus, looked at that closely packed space in there, if there's even any! definitely not worth it.

any lap top I have had, or used has already ran so Hot I didn't figure I dared to over clock the thing..... they already get hot enough you can put it in the covers with ya and warm your bed.

My old P120 laptop I sucessfully overclocked to 133MHz. Worked out fine... 150Mhz worked fine too but the 66MHz bus I believe provided a better performance boost at that time.

As for current Dell's notebooks, only the Inspiron 8000 is overclockable (without overclocking the rest of your hardware). The cooling unit for the CPU is sorta isolated from the system so that part is at least ok.
