My Dad's got one, and I want to breath some new life into his PC... Anyone know of any guides for OC one of these?

Check around here, CPU, All articles. It depends on the motherboard. The simplest way to O/C the chip would be to raise the FSB, changing it to say 112mhz would give you 504 (about the limit for that chip). An alternitive would be a multiplier change, K6-2's are unlocked. Changing from 100x4.5 to 112x4 would give the same final speed but everything else would be running faster (out of spec too).

You'll have to check the MB & see what adjustments, if any, are possible.

Here is a link to Overclockers just peruse their CPU database and choose your CPU and you'll see hundreds of results using the k6-ll 450. I had a epox mvp3g5 and k6-ll 500(back in a day) running at 105x5.5=577.5@2.7v, w/golden orb. I noticed the average overclock on the 450 was around 75mhz as well, so it should give you a good target to shoot for. However, Eriks is exactly right that it'll depend a great deal on which mobo your using. Good luck and have fun.

as already mentioned, if you are trying to breathe some "free" life into the computer through overclocking, your results will mainly depend on your motherboard and ram. consider yourself lucky if you get the cpu to run in the ~500-525mhz range. if you are willing to spend a few bucks and the mobo supports it, you might want to see fi you can find a k6-2+ cpu. the extra 128k on-die cache should give a noticeable performance boost, and they overclock mush better than the regular k6-2's (again, if the mobo supports it)

TigerDirect still lists the K6-2+ for $35. And it would be easier to overclock (500-600MHz). I've done 4 of my old SS7 systems( family members currently use them) with K6-2+'s and it is a noticable improvement.
