Is it possible to o/c a manufacturer's system

My cousin has an Ibm aptiva Pentium 3 system and I was wondering if any of you have o/c'ed a similar system, I don't think I can access the Bios, so I wonder if it's possible, or is there some kind of configuration protection? Thanks🙂 I just wanna see if I can give the system a boost😀 I believe it's a P3 600/650.

not likely... most OEM boards don't have any options for it. Esp. w/ P3 systems, you start having auto-CPU detection, which removed overclocking by jumper. Unless it's somehow an FCPGA chip in a slotkey, that's the only way I'd think to do it...

the only way to o/clock that system is to increase the fsb as the cpu is multiplier clock locked. if your m/board permits raising the fsb ( which I doubt) then you should be able to squeeze out some more speed from that cpu! 🙂

Yeah. Depending on the mobo it may have a jumper or BIOS (less likely) option for 100/133 FSB. You'd need to have a 100 MHz FSB CPU (700, 750, 800 etc.) that will dance at the 133 speed. Secondly, if there's no way to adjust the voltage on the mobo or in the BIOS, you run into the next hurdle if the proc is a relutant overclocker and needs a little more juice. The only way around this is with a Slot 1 board using a slotket with adjustable voltages.

Your other option is to replace the mobo...

Sounds iffy...
