I just got a new 2500M and it seems that this one is locked based on what I have read on the net about it. Without resorting to sodering is there a way to o/c it or am I stuck with the factory speed? Thanks, but the last o/c I did was the old celry 300A...

Mobile Bartons can't be locked, or they wouldn't be able to be used in a laptop.

Well, a desktop Barton is hard-locked (can't be changed) at an 11x multi. And the newest ones are having problems even making it to a 200fsb. Now, an XP-M 2500 (that's what a mobile 2500 is) has a multiplier of 14x, because it's made to run on a 133mhz fsb. It sounds to me as if you have a desktop XP2500, not a mobile.

I have a mobile 2500 XP. I have not had the chance to set up the rig yet. So I guess I will be lock in a 14X multiplier and may be able to push up the FSB. Why is 133 considered 266 FSB? Anyone know what a resonable oc will be on this? If have a NF7-S and a SLK 947U. Think I will make 333FSB x 14?

Well, my mobile 2600 is running at 12x210 right now, and is about to start it's sixth hour of large-fft-only Prime95, no errors so far. Where in the world did you get the idea that mobile Bartons are locked? They aren't because if they were, they couldn't be mobile Bartons. The laptops that use Athlon XP chips lower the lower when they go into "sleep" mode, and that couldn't happen if they were locked.

I was under the impression that the new mobile XP were locked, but I see why that would not make any sense. Glad we cleared that up! I feel much happier now... Just wish I had one of those IQYHA though!
