Is it possible to make mp3s in Winamp sound at a constant volume?

This is perhaps one most annoying software issue I'm experiencing, if not the only one, to tell the truth. All these mp3s I've encoded somehow seem to have a different recording level in each batch. Thus, if I'm listening to them in headphones or even loudspeakers, I have to adjust the volume for every song. This is driving me nuts.

Kudos to anyone who can comment on how to resolve this annoying issue. I'm using Winamp 2.81. Thanks for any replies to this thread.
