Is it possible to install Vista from Hard Drive?

I am downloading Vista x86 edition. I hope within 2 days my downloading will be finished.
Well, I don't have any DVD burner to burn that ISO file to a DVD disc. If I copy the files from ISO file to my HDD then is it possible to install Vista?

I mean is it possible to install vista from Hard Drive? Just like XP or other OS?

Thanks in advance ..

Im pretty sure you need to burn it to a DVD, thats why its a DVD ISO image and not a ZIP file.

Thanks for ur reply ... well, if I mount that into Nero Image Drive and then if I copy all the contents to a folder. Then isn't it possible to install? ... Hmm, I am not sure though ... a few times I've installed XP and 2K (dual boot) from my HDD. So, I thought it was also possible to install vista from DVD 🙁

You can copy the files to the existing hard drive and run setup and do a clean install. This will move your existing install in windows.old.

This won't help you if you want to dual boot or keep your existing install though.

Yes, I don't have a DVD burner but I managed to install it into my secondary HDD, thus keeping my primary XP Pro partition intact.

Just mount the .iso using something like Daemon tools, copy the files to a folder called 'Vistatmp' or something (it doesn't matter were the folder is) like stash said, and run the setup program from Windows. The installer will have to reboot several times but will 'remember' where the files are and install properly. This was for the x86 (32-bit) version.

I've just finished installing Vista 32bit version. Now I've dual boot system 🙂. There wasn't any problem during installation.

Thanks everyone for replying 🙂
