Is it possible to import windows mail stuff into OE?

I just formatted someone's PC and put XP on it since it had Vista and they were having lot of issues and did not like vista to begin with. I just thought of this now when I was restoring their files and saw a "Contacts" folder.

Is there a way I can import whatever emails and contacts they had into Outlook Express or Outlook?

You can also do it manually. In WindowsMail, select Tools/Options, and Advanced. Go to the Store Folder button to find out where your Windows Mail messages are stored, etc. You can then go there and copy the *.eml files you choose to a thumb drive. Take that to the other machine, and with Explorer, double click that file or files and they will open in Outlook Express.

The Contacts folder can be exported and then imported into OE and added to the Address Book.

There's very little difference between Windows Mail and OE.

Good to know that works. Taht's how I used to do it but figured it did not. Vista seems to have done something weird with how profiles are stored, it's spread out across several folders now.

Turns out the user was only using hotmail though so that made my life easier.
