is it possible to have PAT on with 4 dimms?

I have an intel 875P mobo (in 400SC), when I had 2x256MB PC3200 ECC, PAT is on. Then I added back the 2x128MB sticks of the same (the ones that came with the 400SC's) and PAT was disabled.

Now I would like to add some more of the crucial 256MB sticks, but I wanted to check if I will be able to regain the PAT if I do... does anyone know if I will be able to tell ahead of time whether it will work or not?

For what it's worth, my 865P does not officially have PAT but maintains "partial PAT" (enabled via Fast Chip Select) according to CTIAW whether 2 or 4 DIMMS are installed.

you can have PAT on w/ 4 dimms, but I'm guessing Dells 400SC disabled it as a safety features when you added the 2 other dimms to the system, many oem systems cripple performance to ensure stability under all configurations.

AT recent review of 875 and PAT said that PAT was off with ANY configuration involving 4 dimms. Is there a way to avoid that?

Just to add my setup, I to have a Dell PE400SC. With 2x 512MB Crucial PC3200 ECC, PAT is enabled, with a identical additional 2x installed (4 Dimms), PAT gets turned off. Since there is no option in the CMOS to override this, we are most likely stuck at how it is.

ah, ok thanks. I guess if I buy two more crucial 256MB sticks, nothing will improve. Are your 512MB sticks DS or SS, just curious?
