Is it possible to have 1 keyboard and 1 mouse for 2 computers? For instance, I have 2 PCs side-by-side but I obviously would like to save space and don't want to move between keyboards and mouse, so can I have 1 keyboard and 1 mouse for 2 computers?

Yes it's possible , it's called a KVM switch.

You could use Real VNC it's free and very fast.
Remote desktop works too, if you have Win XP prof, home edition comes without remote desktop.

If you want some security (ie. encryption) then you'll have to pay.
I use it to administrate the server from other 2 pcs.
KVM doesn't work with all types of mouse and keyboard.
