Is it possible to get music off an iPod touch?

I remember a while back I got all the music off my regular iPod with some program and it kept all the names and everything. My friend is trying to get all the music off her iPod touch onto her new computer but it seems the new iPod doesn't have a disc mode. So is it possible?
