is it possible to get just a data plan for my iPhone

A friend of mine gave me his old unlocked, jailbroken 2g iPhone since he got the new iPhone. I already have a cellphone service through work, but I'd like to get just a data plan for the iPhone. is it possible?

Only if you can prove to them that you're legally deaf. Otherwise, iPhone requires a voice + data plan.

Slick5150 is correct...I guess you are out of luck? I mean your iphone is unlock you could get unlimited data plan with tmobile but you wont get 3G only on Edge. do you understand my english?

3g service wouldn't matter it's only a Iphone 2g so it would be perfect for T-Mobile network

Nah, my neighbor just went to the dealer and said he had hearing problems and they gave him the data/text only plan. He can do voice too, but it costs a certain amount /min for all calls.

As someone mentioned, its a 2G iphone so getting data only is kinda suck ??
I tried using the net while only on edge with T-mobile and its painfully slow.

I'm thinking if you bought an ipad and get the data only plan for it.
Then return the ipad but keep the sim card and the plan.
Then use an adapter and use it on your iphone ?? Win ??
