here's how i do it ... it will require one-time download from ms' webpage, though...
1. download the IE55 sp1 update on one machine (ie5setup.exe -- 500k small file)
2. do IE55 update on that one machine, and update all the stuffs that you want (the media player, language support, etc)
3. IIRC, there's an advanced option to "save only" and not doing the install (this can be ignored)
4. when you're done downloading (or upgrading) all the files, all the necessary files will be in "C:\Windows Update Setup File"
5. Burn that directory to a CD (if available), or transfer the directory to the new computer
6. Run ie5setup.exe from that directory on the new machine
ok, this is not the simplest way, but that's the only way i know and that's how i'm doing it.
or call gates and ask him to send you a cd 🙂
or simply use netscape... good browser, smaller download 😉
i use both for different reasons 🙂
