Is it possible to get ie 5.5 w/sp1 as a full prog?

I need to download internet explorer 5.5 w/ sp1 so I can put it on 8 win95 machines instead of doing the update on microsoft's web page.

Any suggestions?

here's how i do it ... it will require one-time download from ms' webpage, though...
1. download the IE55 sp1 update on one machine (ie5setup.exe -- 500k small file)
2. do IE55 update on that one machine, and update all the stuffs that you want (the media player, language support, etc)
3. IIRC, there's an advanced option to "save only" and not doing the install (this can be ignored)
4. when you're done downloading (or upgrading) all the files, all the necessary files will be in "C:\Windows Update Setup File"
5. Burn that directory to a CD (if available), or transfer the directory to the new computer
6. Run ie5setup.exe from that directory on the new machine

ok, this is not the simplest way, but that's the only way i know and that's how i'm doing it.

or call gates and ask him to send you a cd 🙂
or simply use netscape... good browser, smaller download 😉

The easiest way to do it is to download the ie5setup.exe (here) like stndn mentioned, and run it. When you get to the screen that says install now or install minimal choose minimal or customized, then on the next screen, click the advanced tab then check the download only box. This will download the whole IE package (29.4 MB) to a directory, so just burn it to a CD and you should be all set. You might also want to grab the few security updates available for IE 5.5 SP1 to burn on the CD also, just hit this page to get them.
