Is it possible to get ATA133 with a single drive on Gigabyte GA-7DXR+?

I recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-7DXR+ MB. I have a 30GB Western Digital drive which I believe supports ATA133, however I am not sure if I can get it using this MB. Looking at the manual leads me to believe that ATA133 is supported only with RAID. Is this true? If I can do ATA133 with a single drive, how would I go about it? I can only get ATA100 from IDE port 1.

Thanks,

basically your drive should work on any of the IDE ports. Whether it be ATA33/66/100/133.

but if you want it to be working at ATA133 then you need it on the Promise raid controller. You will have to set it up for use as ATA133 rather than RAID, but this is easy and is expalined well in the manual.

The onboard IDE connectors are only ATA100, but to be honest you arn't going to see much of a difference in performance.

one thing to remember is that even though your drive is ata133, its still way to slow to require that much bandwidth

in other words running your ata133 hard drive on an ata66, or ata100, or ata133 controller would all perform very similar (since your drive can only barely get over 40mbs sustained data rate and the ata66 bus can handle 66mbs
