Tries to resolve the user's @_____ data ... :/

Edit: Sorry, which forum should this be in?

I was under the impression that most IRC servers masked connected IPs and host names so that other clients couldn't resolve a dns lookup.

A long shot would be opening a DCC connection with them (like sending a file or initiating a DCC chat) and observing your netstat log.

EFnet and Undernet don't. Not sure about DALnet...

Hmm. Well when I was a sysop for IRChat networks, our protocol thoroughly masked client's connection info. I never had to dns though, had all the connected IPs in a separate status window :)

What you might have better luck with is taking the IP that you KNOW from your website and find out all you can about it and work backwards to see if it's likely the one connected to the IRC network.

IRChat is a bit different. The three I mentioned are considered the "big three" anyways. ;)

Plenty of networks do mask it though.
