Is it possible to fit a 120mm Yate Loon fan on an XP-90?

If you wanted to use the 120mm Yate, shouldn't you have purchased an XP-120 Howard? Just curious.

I have the XP-90.

EDIT: I'll entertain you because I don't feel like being a dick to you. I got the Yate Loon after I ordered the XP-90.

i dont think it will work. Possibly after a modification like the one that allowed 120mm fans on the SLK series?

Thanks Howard :)

I found this but it kinda scares me:

The only fan which did not provide enough airflow to keep the system stable was the Papst 92mm at ?low? setting, the SP-94 has a large copper base to use as a buffer zone and this gives it the edge. You might have noticed those 120mm results in the list. Using the 92mm fan clips and some rubber bands you are able to secure a 120mm fan on the heatsink, although I do not recommend it for running 24/7, unless you swap those rubber bands for more stronger gear. The Panaflo 92mm delivers some excellent results, only beaten by the Coolink which is much noisier, and the YS-Tech 120mm. Putting a fan in ?suck? configuration can shaves 1-2°C from your temperature.

YOu can however it isn't recommended.

Use the IIRC 80mm fan clips and clip them in the bottom slots on the fan. Probably wont be any better than the 92mm fan because the huge deadspot in the center with a smaller heatsink.

I did it by stretching the 92mm clip over the fan. Gamingphreek is absoutely right about the dead spot. I found zero difference in cooling by switching to the larger fan.

Howard,
I use a Delta Triple Blade 92x38 rated 57cfm max. It's a very good undervoltable fan on
the XP-90Cu. Some ppl do install 120s on the XP-90 but not a Yate Loon because it just
won't get the middle on the sink. An insane fan will, it shotguns everything. If you have
your heart set on using this 120 Loon, buy a 92 to 120 adapter after you realise the 120
low flow fan isn't cutting the mustard on a sink set-up for a 92mm fan.

Pic of a 120 on a XP-90. This is Dave Sz's set-up and it's not a low flow fan.

I use a 120mm fan on my xp-90. As long as you have a 120x25mm fan it will fit just fine using the stock 80mm fan clips.

Well, I just put my Yate Loon on it, though it's not as secure as I would like.

EDIT: Damn, my temps went up a few degrees at idle. Guess I'll switch back, then.

Did you secure it using the stock fan clips Howard, or did you MacGyver it?
