Is it possible to enable Google Now on ONLY one of your Android devices?

Love the automation that Google Now gives me, but I don't want it draining my N7's battery life with stuff like traffic and weather alerts and ready to go navigation on location searches from my phone or browser. If I disable it on the Nexus it seems to also disable on my phone, any way to work around this?

You can activate it on multiple devices, but I do question how it would work. It would get conflicting data from my tablet at home. Maybe that's why my wakelock for NLP is so high?

No it already works on multiple devices. What I want is to disable it on the Nexus but keep it running on my HTC One. Unfortunately, when I disable it on either one it does the same on the other device.

What if you reset your Google Search app? Then it takes you back to the screen asking you to opt in/out. Of course if you use your Search app on your Nexus, then thats a problem because you need to make a decision about opting in/out to continue.

That's the only thing I can think of for now.

I would try changing the sync options and I think there's a setting somewhere about using or not using a particular device to update your location.

I understand Google wants it to be automated but it needs to be user customizable to some degree so it stops wasting time keeping track of stuff I'm not interested in.
