Is it possible to edit Gamespy default .exe launch location?

I am trying to get Battefield2 to run in 16x9. It works when I start the game from the shortcut that I had added "+szx 1280 +szy 720" onto. But when Gamespy launches the game it launches it from its real .exe file which will make the game run in standard 4:3 AR. So I am trying to find a way to make the game load from Gamespy but at the same time use the settings that will make it work in 16:9.

Ok lots of confusion here. BF2 autoloader helps you find servers like gamespy. To run wide screen you need to add areguments to the command or shortcut. BF2 autoloader lets you add these commands so you just doubleclick on a server and start BF2, join your selected server, and sets your resolution. BF2 will run many more video modes then what is presented in game.

I downloaded it, i wonder how my system will perform at 1600x1050. I have a x800 xl 256mb AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (90ns) 1gig Kingston Extreme Ram and a SATA HD. I bet its going to be choppy as all get out.

Can you go into more detail. I am not sure if you are saying what I am already doing. I have a shortcut that I added "+szx 1280 +szy 720" on the end of its path and it will run BF2 just fine in widescreen. But once I use a program like Gamespy that allows me to see if my friends are gaming and where, I can just click on their name to connect to the server they are on and presto, I am off and gaming. But when I do that on my widescreen media center pc it will not load the extra "+szx 1280 +szy 720" content that makes the game work in widescreen, it uses the games real bf2.exe file to launch the game which makes it run stock settings. What can I do from here? Thanks for your help.

And the fella that is crappin all over my thread, check this out. Its a good forum about widescreen gaming. :)

I dont think BF2 autoloader has the friends funtion, It does have a favorate server list, indead it forces you to use it. Under options theres a place to add additional aregumants. I dont use that but it looked like an obvious place to put the vid aregumants. I am not aware how you might do that in gamespy. Mabee find your friend with xfire, then use BF2 autoloader to join that server?

Use Xfire for friends list.
