Hello, I have 2 physical drives, a C and a D, my C contains my Windows XP partition, and is what I use NOW, and will forever, but my D contains my Windows 2k partition, which I was previously using. I am now sure that I will no longer need to get back to 2k. So how can I remove this from the D drive, I dont want to format, I just want to remove all settings and links to it being an OS on that drive, so I can use this 20 gig drive mainly for its storage and what not. Is this possible? Thanks. Someone told me once that all I have to do is like remove one file or something, I dont know. Thanks. I just want my space back

Delete the \winnt and \program files folders on the D:\ drive (and any other folders you want to get rid of), and edit boot.ini not to point to the D:\ drive.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

yeah, just edit boot.ini on C: and delete d:\winnt and d:\program files and d:\documents and settings

its hidden.

the easier way is to go into system control panel and go to the startup tab or whatever its called, somewhere in the system control panel you can change the boot settings. you'll want to delete the windows 2000 entry, and make it so it boots straight into XP instead of asking you.

Oh yeah, of course. Ive already done that, and I have it automatically boot right into XP, and it doesnt even show me the dual boot option anymore. I have it just go write into XP, no prompts, timers, or anything. I just want some of this 20 gigs free. Thanks.

uhm, its not that hard... go into explorer and delete the winnt and program files folders... is there some reason U dont like this method? or what?

might wanna see if there is a swap file to delete too..

another way is take the info U want off this harddrive, to the other one... then format it.

So by deleting folders called Windows 2000, WINNT, and Win98 on my D drive, in no way will I affect my booting, or my Windows XP performance, or stability? Like it wont cause any probs right? THanks,

I also have a Windows Update Setup Files on here, can I remove this as well, so I can remove all associations to Windows on the D drive. Thanks.
