Is It Possible To Do A 4K Dual Monitor Setup With The Secondary Monitor In 1080p?

I was thinking of purchasing the Seiki 39inch 4K set at Christmas.

It would be a waste of money since I am going to buy a 50 or 55 inch 4K set for PC gaming next May. Going to make a certain set up that would allow me to sit on the couch and use a mouse/keyboard with some custom table.

Anyway, I already have a 32 inch 1080p LED TV that I use as a monitor. Would it be possible to have a dual monitor set up with 1 television in 4k and the other in 1080p? I would be extending the displays, not duplicating them.

Yes, you can set it up that way easily. I have 3 displays hooked up simultaneously, 1 monitor at 1980x1200, 1 monitor at 1680x1050, and 1 TV at 1920x1080.

Yea, I was pretty sure you could but I just wanted to be certain. What sizes are all your monitors?

Do you think a 32 inch TV might look a little small beside a 50 inch 4k one? Like the text might be hard to read due to it being beside such a huge monitor.

My 24" 1920x1200 is my main screen, with my 22" 1680x1050 off to the right as a secondary. Then my 32" 1920x1080 TV is wall mounted above for movie viewing from my bed.

I don't think you'll have a problem with the sizes you want. If anything, the text will probably be about the same size on both monitors, or slightly smaller on the 4K depending on how you scale the dots per inch.

I have a 70 inch HDTV and it's fine for reading text from my couch for me. There are some times where I'll use the zoom function but holding control and using the scroll wheel to make text visible isn't bad.

The BAD part about it is gaming on PC games for me. A lot of games require me to find a hack to make text/HUD visible. Witcher 2 I HATED and I think I hated it mostly due to the fact that I need a magnifying glass to read anything. I installed the Comfy Couch mod but I think I'll have to return to the game again with the largest version of that mod installed as I triedthe base and it still was impossible to read.

The great part? Gaming in general of course. Super Mario Galaxy in 1080p from Dolphin with settings turned up (I only used 2x AA though but meh), looks Gorgeous on it. Battlefield 4? Ugh.... so nice.

Vizio P Series 70 inch HDTV is my next purchase. Probably will get the 2015 model which will fix the majority of issues with this model (and it'll be the time where I have more than enough disposable cash hopefully to do so). I would never go back to small screens....

I got a projector coming in for an 80 inch screen right in front of my bed for Saturday. Going to see how that plays out.
