Is it possible to disable Network Browsing in Windows 2000?

We have a small network here at work. Mostly Windows 2000 and XP boxes. No server.

It is used to share large CAD files between computers. The security is really basic. Shares are accessed using the guest account.

I would like one Windows 2000 computer NOT to be able to access the network but STILL keep a share so that users can dump files on it.

So far I have removed the "My network places" icon but you can still access the network from within applications in the open file dialog box.

I don't care about UNC considering most users don't know how to use it.

Any way I can make this computer "one way" only?

Hmm looks like removing "client for microsoft networks" does exactly what I want.

It does in XP for sure. Will have to test in 2000.

Why not just setup a server or a NAS?? Your environment is just an accident waiting to happen. How many computers and how many users?

I know.

A complete network rebuild is to be done. This is a temporary measure.

There is a "server" used to backup data and share smaller files. It's a simple Windows 2000 Pro box.

There is around 20 computers total.

You may be able to do this from your router, if it allows clients filters, by shutting down port 80 for that pc - need to have static IPs or forever leases.
