i have two Xigmatek XLF-F2006's in one of my machines - one as a front intake fan, and the other as a top exhaust fan. i bought them b/c they move alot of air at low rpms and make very little noise, not b/c i like bling and had to have an LED-lit fan. in fact, the LEDs drive me nuts! and yet there is no toggle switch to turn them on and off (that i know of anyways). am i missing something, or are these LEDs always on? if so, it would seem to me that the only way to disable them would be to cut the 2-wire leads going to each of the 4 LEDs located on the fan. then again, perhaps i don't have to cut them...that is, maybe they'll unplug from the bulbs cleanly...i don't know - i have to inspect the fans more closely when i get home to see for sure.
i guess my question is this - if the only way to disable the LEDs ends up being to cut the 2-wire leads going to them, am i risking the functionality of the fan motor itself? common sense tells me the fan should continue working just fine, but i was wondering if anyone might have experienced problems with the fan itself after doing something like this.
TIA,
Eric
