Say out of like leftover speakers and subs????

Of course! Use your imagination!
What youll need: either active speakers (i.e with built in amp) or a standalone amp with speakers coonected to it. Heck, you can even connect your pc to a stereo, as long as it has l/r inputs. My PC has audio branching (ie LOTS of cables). It has a signal splitter (cuz i connected it to 2 sorround sound systems), one 5.1 connection goes to my room aiwa surround sound system (never bought gay computer speakers in my life! If iu have a stereo, why not connect to it, for better sound, and to save??!), and the other 5.1 goes to the other room with big-ass surround sound system (for music listening).
Tell me bout your config, what speakers/equipment you got! ill help with cable selection and like!

im pretty sure most sound cards have three connectors: one for the two front channels/bass, one for the two rear ones, and one for center. so yeah, just use those three as an output source to any speaker with a built in amp, and you're good to go.

right now i do have my pc audio output goin to my stereo.....but both are from the last millenium, before everything had 5.1 audio

I'm going a new PC soon and the mobo will have 5.1 or 6.1, it has like 3 or 4 outputs like one for front-right/left, subwoofer.....so i would just need a standalone amp and do a cable cutting job to get it all together

(i have plenty of old speaker boxes i wanna use and some subs)

Its a good idea, but it might turn out to be pretty expensive. If its well designed and constructed though, the sound quality should be great.
