PC gurus,

Windows 10 pro has been installed from scratch on a Dell workstation T5600, Dual Xeon, 32GB RAM. The USB 3.0 ports works fine if the Sandisk SSD is plugged and boot from an SATA ports. As soon as it is plugged into the SAS port, the USB 3.0 ports cease to function and don't recognize anything plug into it.

The motherboard has two SATA and three SAS ports. Is there anyway to convert the SAS to a regular SATA such that I don't waste and can reuse the SAS ports without using the SAS driver?

Advance thanks for your time and help.

The SAS controller doesn't speak AHCI, thus it needs drivers of its own. This is unavoidable, but since SAS controllers can all speak to SATA drives it's usually not much of a problem. Whatever's going on with a conflict between your USB controller and your SAS controller almost certainly has nothing to do with your SATA drive and would be happening if you attached a SAS drive to the SAS controller instead.

This sounds like either a case of bad product design where a set of PCIe lanes can either be connected to the SAS controller or the USB controller but not both, or it's a ridiculous motherboard firmware bug.
