Is it POSSIBLE to connect my desktop video card to Laptop LCD?

I don't have my monitor or a cable on hand so I'm not quite sure if my laptop has the right inputs for this to work (or if it would even if they were there), so I thought I'd ask here. I have a compaq 1800 laptop and it has a 15 pin female VGA connector and a 9-pin (VGA?) male connector as well. Is there any way I can make this happen?
