Is it possible to connect extra mic in Compact camera?

Guys,planning to buy a compact camera.But u know that there sound quality while video recording is very poor.So i was searching other way to record sounds perfectly.Do u know any way?

I haven't ever seen a compact camera with an external microphone plug. Some SLRs and camcorders have them, but that won't fit your "compact" requirement.

Panasonic FZ200 has the option, but it's more of a bridge camera than a true compact.
