Is it possible to change the country code on DVD's?

Lets say I buy a Japanese DVD which doesnt work in my DVD player. Is there a way to burn the DVD and change the Country Code to make it compatible?

Change your DVD player region to 0.

but I think your DVD-ROM needs to be region free.

And yes you can, but the process of doing so is illegal.

You can change the DVD Region code of your DVD player (on a comp) like 5 times I think...
