Is it possible to buy a window air conditioner at this time of year?

For some reason, my bedroom is always 20 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, so we have a window air conditioner to keep it cool. Tonight it started making horrible noises and then the motor burned out. Is it still possible to buy a window air conditioner?

I'm sure you can find one. Try lowes or Home Depot first.

Funny,
I just moved to a new house with Central Heat/Air. I have 2 Widow units that I can't seem to sell at rock bottom prices.
Check your local papers, or "Bargain Shopper" type papers, I'm sure you'll get a great deal.

You might also check local pawn shops. This time of year those desperate for money will sometimes pawn things that are of no use to them in the short term.

I had to call around to about 15 places. Home Depot, Lowes, and several appliance stores don't carry them until April/May. Sutherland's (a crappy home improvement store) had a pallet of 6000 BTU window units for $120 each.

You are likely to have a very limited selection at each store, so be sure to ask if they have more in the back.
