Is it possible to build a laptop?

This is probly a dumb question... but prices on laptops are so high... is it possible to build one? and if so where could you order parts at? thanx!

Theres a reason why they're high. It takes more engineering to fit everything in that smaller space, you have to make most of the components specificily for that type of laptop, and due to the smaller nature of things, it costs more to make each part.

So, in conclusion. No. Not unless you had a boat load of money to spend. In the end, it'll be cheaper buying one of the pre-builts.

hehe thought so... just wish u could build one... i want one so bad yet I dont have the $$ to buy one... *sigh* LOL oh well ;-) thanx for the info!

LOL. You can get a couple of two by fours, and strap a desktop to them, then haul them around on your shoulders :)

You can do it! Some manufacturers sell their damaged parts to salvage companies. These Companies in turn sell them! Some can be found on ebay. Serch Ebay for gateway solo chassis! If you are lucky you can find a p3 chassis. Building notebooks is rather tedious and I wish I had the money to do it. I would rather buy one than mess with finding parts.

It can be done though!
